Saturday, March 8 - Tellico River Cleanup - meet at the old Wal-Mart parking lot in Madisonville at 8AM to carpool to the Tellico District Ranger Station on the Tellico River Road. We will be picking up trash along the Tellico River Road and other nearby sites. We will be provided with trash bags and a T-shirt. They have gloves, but you may want to bring your own favorite pair for such work. Contact: Johanna Cooley, 423-442-3643 (H)

Wednesday, March 12 - Fort Loudon State Park Hike - about 4.5 miles. Meet at the Madisonville old Wal-Mart parking lot at 9AM or Vonore at 9:30 AM. Contact: Johanna Cooley, 423-442-3643 (H)

Saturday, March 15 - Indian Boundary Lake Hike - about 4 miles. Meet at the Madisonville old Wal-Mart parking lot at 9AM or the Tellico Plains Hardee's parking lot at 9:30 AM to carpool, or at the trailhead about 10AM. Contact: Johanna Cooley, 423-442-3643 (H)

Wednesday, March 26 - Hike up to Whigg Meadow from Mud Gap on Cherohala Skyway. Meet at old Wal-Mart parking lot in Madisonville at 9 AM  or at the Tellico Plains Hardee's at 9:30 AM to carpool or at the Mud Gap trailhead on the Cherohala Skyway at about 10:15 AM (about mile post 3 in NC). Monday, April 7 - Porter's Creek. 3.6 mile round trip to Fern Branch Falls and back. Meet at 8:00 a.m. at old Wal-Mart parking lot in Madisonville. (Alternative date April 9 in case of bad weather). Leader: Faye Daniel, 442-6288.

Wednesday, April 9 - Indian Boundary Lake Trail. 3.8 mile round trip. Meet at 9:00 a.m. at old Wal-Mart parking lot in Madisonville or the Hardee's in Tellico Plains at 9:30 a.m. (If the Porter's Creek hike gets rained out on Monday, we will hike Porter's Creek instead of Indian Boundary Lake Trail). Thursday, May 1 - Laurel-Snow Pocket Wilderness (in Rhea county). 5 miles round trip including Laurel Falls. Meet at 8:00 a.m. at old Wal-Mart parking lot in Madisonville or at 8:30 a.m. in the K-Mart parking lot in Sweetwater on the end closest to TN68. Monday, May 5 - Flats Mountain (off the Cherohala Pky.) hopefully to see the pink lady slippers. 3 miles in and out. Meet at 9:00 a.m. at the old Wal-Mart parking lot in Madisonville. Leader: Faye Daniel, 442-6288.

Wednesday, May 7- Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest. 2 mile loop hike. Meet in Madisonville (old Wal-Mart parking lot) at 8:00 a.m. or Tellico Plains Hardee's at 8:30 a.m.  Leader: Faye Daniel, 442-6288.

Wednesday, May 14 - Indian Boundary Lake Trail, 3.6 mile loop trail. Meet in Madisonville at the old Wal-Mart parking lot at 9:00 a.m. or Tellico Plains Hardee's at 9:30 a.m.  Eat at Tellico Beach afterwards. Leader: Marie Henry, 337-6060.

Wednesday, May 14 - CANCELLED, MAY BE RESCHEDULED  Hike to Bote Mountain and West Prong in the Tremont area of the Smokies. 3.9 miles. (Short paved road shuttle required). Monday, June 2 - Hike on Alcoa Greenway Bike Trail. This bike trail is 9 miles long and runs between Maryville and Alcoa. We will hike part of the bike trail. Meet at 8AM at the Madisonville Ingle's parking lot. Contact: Faye Daniel, 423-442-6288 or 423-315-6459, fayedaniel@webtv.net

Saturday, June 7 - Trails Day. We plan to work on the Cumberland Trail up near Frozen Head. Work starts at 8AM, so we will have to leave really early to get there in time. Contact: Gail Henley, 423-442-3400, gailbo@bellsouth.net

Wednesday, June 11 - Hike up Snowbird Creek from Junction to Sassafras Creek --- a cool, shaded six round trip miles on the old logging railroad grade. This is an old favorite of club hikers. Trailhead is about 20 minutes from the Robbinsville end of the Cherohala Skyway.    Meet at the Ingle's parking lot in Madisonville at 8 am or meet Rick at the Robbinsville end of the Cherohala Skyway at 9:15 am.  Contact: Richard Harris, 423-253-6358 (h), 513-260-1184 (c), HarrisRi@aol.com

Monday, June 16 - Hooper Bald and Huckleberry Knob. Both of these balds are over a mile high and have short trails to reach them from the Cherohala Skyway. Total distance to be hiked will be maybe 3-4 miles. We will meet at the Ingle's parking lot in Madisonville at 8:00 AM or at the Tellico Plains Hardee's at 8:30 AM to carpool up to the trailhead. Wednesday, June 18 - Athens Regional Park. We will meet at the Madisonville Ingle's parking lot at 9AM and carpool to Athens. The trail is about 3 miles long along a pretty creek and up a small ridgeline. This is also a mountain bike trail, but we are unlikely to run into bikers on a Wednesday morning.
